Abstract
English as a universal language or international language is a language that is very influential and important in the current era of globalization, but the English language skill of the Indonesian people are still relative low especially in class IV (four) MI Darwata Mernek. From the results of interview with English teacher, because English is a difficult lesson and is included in local content lessons where the allocation of learning time is only 1 (one) lesson hour, so the time to study in class is very lacking and questionnaire data that the authors shared from a total of 31 students, only 2 students who were proficient or can speak English. The learning method so far is still conventional and is felt by students as the boring method. The purpose of this study is to design and build an English education game application to increase interest in learning and as a support media for fun learning. In this study, the author uses the eXtreme Programming (XP) system development method which consists of four stages, planning, designing, writing program code, and testing. The results of this study are that it has been successfully built an English education game application for fourth-grade elementary school students based on Android at MI Darwata Mernek.
