Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a rich culture and traditions. One of them is from the traditional musical instrument sector such as the Central Java Gamelan which is a type of Indonesian traditional music orchestra game originating from the Java region. In the gamelan orchestra, traditional music consists of several traditional musical instruments such as drums, gongs, flutes, xylophone, bonang, zither, fiddle and kenong. The purpose of this research is to produce an Augmented Reality application for the introduction of Central Javanese Gamelan musical instruments with the hope of helping learning and adding knowledge to cultural arts subjects and preserving them. The limitation of the problem contained in this study is the platform used using the type of mobile platform. The research method used is the MDLC (Multimedia Development Life Cycle) system development method which consists of the stages of conceptualizing, designing, collecting materials, manufacturing, testing and distributing. The results of this study resulted in a mobile-based Gamelan AR application to introduce Central Javanese Gamelan musical instruments in 3D.
