Abstract
This study states that academic services in tertiary institutions are an important aspect and are a reflection of the quality of the institution. Quality academic services must match the needs of customers, including students. The current demands on higher education institutions include not only the ability to produce academically good graduates, but also all service programs provided to students. In the context of Amikom Purwokerto University, observations show that academic services need to be improved due to limitations on the number of teaching staff and job rotation. Currently, students must access the website to obtain academic information, but the contents of the handbook are still separate and challenge them to find the information they need. As a solution, this research develops a Telegram-based chatBOT using the Python programming language with the application of Natural Language Processing. This ChatBOT succeeded in providing information about the procedure for registering for thesis exams, street vendors, MBKM registration, and leave guides for students. Students can take advantage of this chatBOT to conduct virtual academic consultations, get answers to their questions, and find information about campus activities. This research also shows the potential for developing chatBOT as a solution to improve academic services in tertiary institutions. The results showed good accuracy in answering user questions, with a short response time. Use of chatBOT technology with Promising and sophisticated Natural Language Processing in human- machine interaction. In addition, chatBOT is also a form of application that is relevant to the field of artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence) and has many purposes that help human communication. This research succeeded in producing a chatBOT application that can be used to facilitate academic access in the informatics study program at Amikom University, Purwokerto.
