Abstract
In the agricultural sector, land has a very important role in determining the success of an agricultural business. Each region has a different level of soil moisture, depending on the type of soil and geographical location. This difference in soil moisture can affect the first results to overcome this problem, researchers have carried out the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in the world of agriculture. By creating a soil moisture monitoring system. In this study, a soil moisture monitoring system was implemented on chili plantations using the Thingspeak platform. The IoT concept is implemented using NodeMCU ESP 8266 as a microcontroller. This tool allows the process of monitoring soil moisture remotely as long as the system is connected to the Internet. The prototype was built using a soil moisture sensor as a soil moisture meter, a DHT 11 sensor as a temperature detector, a water pump as a sprinkler on the soil if the soil moisture value is too low, and the Thingspeak platform as a reader of values sent by NodeMCU ESP 8266. The results of this study is a system for monitoring soil moisture that functions in real-time. This system can send information about soil moisture levels, ambient temperature, and conditions at the water pump. This information can be accessed and viewed periodically through the Thingspeak platform. The average value of soil moisture produced by the system is 40.8%.
