Abstract
Water guava is a plant originating from Southeast Asia. Water guava has a high economic value, besides it tastes good, it also has a complete nutritional content. The nutritional content of water guava consists of calories, protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and Vitamin C. In water guava trees, diseases and pests can attack the leaves, branches, roots and fruit. Pests that attack guava plants include stem borers, caterpillars, insects, fruit flies and bacteria. Farmers' knowledge of the care and disturbance of pests and diseases on water guava trees is very limited and if not handled immediately will result in less than optimal growth and decreased production of water guava fruit. To overcome these problems, an application is needed that can assist farmers in identifying disturbances in water guava plants. This application utilizes expert system technology that functions as an expert substitute. This expert system was built using the website-based Certainty Factor method. Certainty Factor method is used as a decision making based on the characteristics of the symptoms experienced. This expert system can be accessed on all platforms using the Browser application. The purpose of making this expert system is to be used as an initial diagnosis in handling pests and diseases. The results of this study the system can identify the disease with a confidence level of 98.55%.
