Abstract

Every human have been experiencing illness, the suffered disease can be varied. Ill is a condition where the body is sick or not in a normal state. Disease with common symptoms that people suffered is often not taken seriously, and it can get worse if the disease is not treated immediately. As science and technology advanced, especially in the medical field, it will invent sophisticating medical equipment in dealing with diseases or doing an early detection so it could get a quick treatment. Based on these problems the writer conducted research with a purpose to design an expert system application that is able to diagnose common diseases based on the initial symptoms that is experienced by the user. This expert system is using Dempster–Shafer method in the decision making. The application is designed for web based and using PHP as the programming language and MySQL as the database management system. The knowledge base is obtained from the doctor and related literatures. The final result from this research is a web based expert system application, where it can help to identify the disease that is likely suffered by the user along with the solution to the disease.
