Abstract

SD Negeri 1 Pakuncen is an elementary school that still applies conventional learning methods such as providing materials, taking notes, and assignments. This is also due to the lack of more varied and enjoyable learning media that the school has. As a result, students become bored quickly, bored and lazy to learn and the learning process in class also becomes monotonous and students tend to be more passive. This has an impact on the value of their subjects, especially Mathematics. One of the impacts that occurs is the value of PAS (Final Semester Assessment) class V (five) on the building material which is still below the KKM (Minimum Graduation Criteria). Therefore, learning media is needed by utilizing multimedia technology to be able to attract students in the learning process and assist in understanding the material of spatial structure. Therefore, the author has designed and built GEMATIKA (Mathematical Educational Game) as a learning medium for building materials using the MDLC (Multimedia Development Life Cycle) method. This game is a desktop-based game and has gone through two tests, namely, Alpha testing which resulted in all component functionality in the game functioning as expected and Beta testing which involved 17 respondents and resulted in an average rating of 88.4% (strongly agree) which indicates that educational games are appropriate to be used as learning media. From the final assessment on each question, 88% (strongly agree) stated that this educational game was interesting to use as a learning medium and 95% (strongly agreed) stated that this game helped in the learning process.
